What an incredible evening at our Georgia Reads Community Literacy Night! 📚✨ We were honored to welcome former NFL player and author Malcolm Mitchell, who first spent time with our K8 Academy students during the day, inspiring young readers with his journey from the football field to becoming an author. Malcolm and his team then joined us at the Rec Dept. track for more fun! The evening brought together parents, students, teachers, and community stakeholders for a celebration of literacy filled with engaging activities, meaningful conversations, and delicious food. Seeing our community unite around the importance of reading was truly special! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a tremendous success. Together, we're fostering a love of reading that will benefit our students for years to come! #GeorgiaReads #LiteracyMatters #DoolyUnited

Greetings All, As the Superintendent of the Dooly County School System, I want to assure you that the safety and security of every student and staff member is our top priority. We are committed to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students. Today, WALB visited our campus to inquire about a personnel matter that has already been resolved. Due to the sensitive nature of personnel issues, we must maintain confidentiality and cannot discuss specific details publicly. However, we took this matter seriously, conducted a thorough investigation, and the Dooly County Board of Education acted promptly based on the administration's recommendation. The behavior in question does not reflect the values of the Dooly County School System nor our dedication to serving our students. We take any action that compromises our students' safety and the trust of our community very seriously. Please rest assured that this issue has been addressed, as the well-being of our students is our highest priority. Should there be any relevant updates, we will communicate them as needed. In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support for our students and staff, and your trust in our commitment to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for everyone. Respectfully, Sherrod D. Willaford

What an inspiring evening at tonight's Board of Education meeting! The celebration of excellence was in full swing as multiple recognitions took center stage. The board honored the DCSS 51st Founders Day, acknowledging our district's rich history and commitment to education. Recognition was also given to Georgia School Board Week, National School Social Worker Week, and International Women's History Month—all significant observances that highlight the diverse contributions to our educational community. A special moment came when our dedicated Dooly County 4-H students were recognized for their service as board members through the Southwest district. This was followed by Mr. Quad Hardy, our outstanding 4-H agent, received a well-deserved coin of distinction for his exceptional work with students and his willingness to always go above and beyond. Nights like these remind us of the many individuals who make our school community special! #DoolyCountySchools #Excellence #Recognition
