What an incredible evening at our Georgia Reads Community Literacy Night! 📚✨ We were honored to welcome former NFL player and author Malcolm Mitchell, who first spent time with our K8 Academy students during the day, inspiring young readers with his journey from the football field to becoming an author. Malcolm and his team then joined us at the Rec Dept. track for more fun! The evening brought together parents, students, teachers, and community stakeholders for a celebration of literacy filled with engaging activities, meaningful conversations, and delicious food. Seeing our community unite around the importance of reading was truly special! Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this event such a tremendous success. Today, the Dooly County Chamber of Commerce-Family Connection held its 48th Annual Meeting and Awards Luncheon, recognizing outstanding community members and organizations for their contributions to our county. We're proud to announce that Dooly County High School student Kaleb Green received a $500 scholarship presented by the Kiwanis Club and Chamber of Commerce. Congratulations, Kaleb, on this well-deserved recognition! Special recognition also went to Mrs. Hollie Black and Ms. Latorri West, who were both honored with the Extra Mile Award for their exceptional dedication and service to our community. From getting up close with animals to learning about agriculture, smiles were everywhere as our young Bobcats experienced farm life firsthand. What an inspiring evening at tonight's Board of Education meeting! The celebration of excellence was in full swing as multiple recognitions took center stage. The board honored the DCSS 51st Founders Day, acknowledging our district's rich history and commitment to education. Recognition was also given to Georgia School Board Week, National School Social Worker Week, and International Women's History Month—all significant observances that highlight the diverse contributions to our educational community. A special moment came when our dedicated Dooly County 4-H students were recognized for their service as board members through the Southwest district. This was followed by Mr. Quad Hardy, our outstanding 4-H agent, received a well-deserved coin of distinction for his exceptional work with students and his willingness to always go above and beyond.
