🎓 Dooly Legacy Initiative - Week 26 🎓
They walked our halls as students. Now they're shaping the future for the next generation.
This week's Dooly Legacy is Coach Rody Velasquez, elementary Physical Education teacher at Dooly County K8 Academy!
Coach Velasquez is a proud Dooly County graduate who came back home to get our youngest learners moving, thriving, and discovering the joy of an active life. In the gym and on the field, he is teaching our elementary students far more than physical fitness — he is building teamwork, sportsmanship, self-discipline, and the confidence that comes from pushing yourself a little further every day.
He knows what it means to grow up in Dooly County, and he brings that hometown pride into everything he does. Coach Velasquez shows our students every day that taking care of your body and showing up for your team are lessons that extend well beyond the gymnasium walls.
Thank you, Coach Velasquez, for keeping our Bobcats active, energized, and inspired! 💛

🎓 Dooly Legacy Initiative - Week 25 🎓
They walked our halls as students. Now they're shaping the future for the next generation.
This week's Dooly Legacy is Mrs. Angelica Thompson, middle school Math teacher at Dooly County K8 Academy!
Mrs. Thompson is a proud Dooly County graduate who came back home to prove what she already knew — that math is not something to fear, but something to conquer. In her classroom, she meets students where they are, breaking down complex concepts and building the confidence our middle schoolers need to tackle every equation, every problem, and every challenge placed in front of them.
She knows the struggles and the victories of learning math in these very halls because she experienced them herself. Now she channels that understanding into instruction that is patient, purposeful, and powerful — laying the mathematical foundation her students will stand on for the rest of their academic lives.
Thank you, Mrs. Thompson, for making math click and bringing your passion back home! 💛

Patriot Day: Remembering September 11, 2001
Today, Dooly County Schools joins the nation in solemn remembrance—25 years since the events of September 11, 2001 changed our world forever. We pause to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless acts of courage and unity that emerged from that darkest of days.
Twenty-five years later, we carry their memory forward by teaching our students the values that define us as a nation: resilience, service, and love of community. Let us never forget.
🕊️ Please join us in a moment of reflection today, September 11th, as we honor those we lost and the heroes who answered the call.

📚 Celebrating International Literacy Day at Dooly County Schools! 📚
Every page turned, every word sounded out, and every story shared is building the foundation for our students' futures. This International Literacy Day, we're celebrating the teachers, families, and community partners who make literacy a priority every single day in Dooly County.
From classroom read-alouds to family reading nights, literacy isn't just a subject here—it's a shared commitment across our entire community. When our students read, they don't just learn to decode words; they learn to dream bigger, think deeper, and see the world in new ways.
To every teacher who champions a love of reading, every parent who reads one more chapter at bedtime, and every student who picks up a book: thank you for making literacy come alive. 💛

🎓 Dooly Legacy Initiative - Week 24 🎓
They walked our halls as students. Now they're shaping the future for the next generation.
This week's Dooly Legacy is Mrs. Jaquelyn Taylor, Media Specialist at Dooly County High School!
Mrs. Taylor is a proud Dooly County graduate who came back home to open worlds through the power of books, research, and information literacy. As our high school media specialist, she is the curator of curiosity — connecting students with the resources, tools, and knowledge they need to think critically, research deeply, and grow intellectually.
Her media center is more than a library. It is a space where students discover their interests, explore new ideas, and develop the skills that will carry them through college, careers, and life. Mrs. Taylor tends to that space with expertise and dedication, ensuring that every student who walks through those doors leaves better equipped than when they arrived.
Thank you, Mrs. Taylor, for keeping the love of learning alive and bringing it back home! 💛

📚 September is Attendance Awareness Month! 📚
As we prepare to recognize this important month and bring awareness to the benefits of attending school daily, we want to remind every student and family: Your Presence Matters!
Every day at school is another opportunity to learn, grow, build relationships, and move closer to success. Missing just a few days can make it harder for students to keep up. Let’s work together to ensure our Bobcats are at school, on time, and ready to learn every day! 🐾
Attend today. Achieve tomorrow. Every student. Every day.
