REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) is a needs-based mentorship and scholarship program that supports students from middle school through college. The Selection Process These exceptional students earned this honor through a competitive process that included: Demonstrating academic promise Maintaining a strong GPA Receiving recommendations from educators Participating in a formal interview with a selection committee The Scholarship Benefits Upon successful high school graduation, REACH Scholars are awarded a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year for up to four years) that can be used at any HOPE-eligible college in Georgia. Many colleges are matching or even double-matching these funds, and the scholarship is awarded in addition to any other grants or scholarships students receive! This is a life-changing opportunity for our students, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence. We can't wait to see all they will accomplish! Celebrating Excellence: Dooly County Board of Education Earns Exemplary Status for Sixth Consecutive Year!

The Dooly County Board of Education is proud to announce that it has been recognized with the Georgia School Boards Association’s (GSBA) 2025 Exemplary Board Recognition, the highest level of achievement in GSBA’s recognition program.

This honor underscores the Board’s steadfast commitment to effective governance, continuous improvement, transparency, and collaboration, all of which contribute to fostering strong schools and maximizing opportunities for every student in the district.

“Receiving this recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our governance team,” said Ms. Sherri Taylor, Board Chair. “We are committed to making decisions that strengthen our schools, support our staff, and prepare our students for success.”

To earn this distinction, the Dooly County Board of Education met and exceeded rigorous criteria established by GSBA. The standards for Exemplary Boards are designed to ensure that local school boards provide outstanding leadership and accountability in service to their communities.

The GSBA Board Recognition Program was developed by Georgia superintendents and school board members, based on the State Board of Education’s Standards for Effective Governance. Established in 1998, it was one of the first programs in the nation to set clear, measurable standards for local boards of education.

The program includes three levels of recognition: Quality Board, Distinguished Board, and Exemplary Board. Attaining the Exemplary level represents the highest mark of distinction for local school boards in Georgia.

For more information about GSBA’s Governance Team Recognition Program, including award criteria, visit the GSBA Awards and Recognition webpage.

Achieving this milestone shows that we are building a strong culture of reading in our school community. We are so proud of our students, teachers, and families for supporting reading both in and out of the classroom.

Thank you for helping us make reading a daily habit and a lifelong joy for our students. Let’s keep turning the pages together!

Today is World Mental Health Day 💚

At Dooly County Schools, we believe that mental health matters just as much as physical health. Today, we're reminded that it's okay to not be okay, and it's always okay to ask for help.

Let's support one another by checking in, listening with compassion, and creating a community where everyone feels valued and heard. Together, we can break the stigma and prioritize well-being for our students, staff, and families.

Remember: You are not alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, please reach out to a trusted adult, counselor, or mental health professional.
