Exciting News!!

The Dooly County School System is celebrating growth on the 2025 College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI), released by the Georgia Department of Education. Results show increases across nearly every indicator at the elementary, middle, and high school levels — a reflection of the district’s ongoing commitment to instructional excellence and student success.

At Dooly County Elementary School, scores rose in every category, including a jump in Content Mastery from 33.0 to 38.4 and Progress from 68.5 to 78.7. The school also earned an outstanding 96.7 in Closing Gaps, showing that students are achieving growth across all learning groups.

Dooly County Middle School continued its upward trend, with Content Mastery improving to 39.7 and Progress at 84.3, including a remarkable 99.1 in ELA progress. Readiness also rose to 76.9, signaling that students are on track for future success.

At Dooly County High School, gains were equally strong. The school saw Content Mastery increase from 24.3 to 33.5, including a major leap in Math from 11.74 to 36.62. Progress rose to 73.7, and Pathway Completers climbed to 79.75, demonstrating more students are graduating ready for college and career.

“These results are a testament to the dedication of our teachers, leaders, and students,” said Superintendent Dr. Sherrod Willaford. “We’re proud of the work happening in our classrooms every day — and this data shows our district is moving in the right direction.” Dooly County Schools outperformed the state in Closing Gaps at both the elementary and high school levels and exceeded the state in Progress at the middle school level.

Chief Academic Officer Holly Black added, “Our system’s focus on literacy, numeracy, and whole-child supports is creating meaningful change. These gains show what’s possible when everyone — from teachers to families — works together for student success.”

What an amazing evening at the Dooly County Library’s open house! 🎉 The Dooly County STEM Bus rolled in with lots of fun activities, and the students had a blast building with LEGOs, strategizing over games, and exploring hands-on learning. The Dooly College and Career Academy was honored at the Rural Education and Innovation Fall Summit-South for our innovative use of a $50K Workforce Preparedness Grant (GA Chamber/GaDOE)! REACH (Realizing Educational Achievement Can Happen) is a needs-based mentorship and scholarship program that supports students from middle school through college. Scholars are paired with a mentor and an academic coach throughout high school and must maintain good behavior, grades, and attendance to successfully complete the program. The Selection Process These exceptional students earned this honor through a competitive process that included: Demonstrating academic promise Maintaining a strong GPA Receiving recommendations from educators Participating in a formal interview with a selection committee The Scholarship Benefits Upon successful high school graduation, REACH Scholars are awarded a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year for up to four years) that can be used at any HOPE-eligible college in Georgia. Many colleges are matching or even double-matching these funds, and the scholarship is awarded in addition to any other grants or scholarships students receive! This is a life-changing opportunity for our students, and we couldn't be prouder of their hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence. We can't wait to see all they will accomplish! The Dooly County School System will observe Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month this November by honoring the legacy of Ms. Carolyn Brooks. On Thursday, November 20, 2025, we invite the entire school community to participate in 'Bobcats Wear Teal for Carolyn' Day. Ms. Brooks, our cherished former DCHS Assistant Principal and DCSS CEO CCA/CTAE Director, would have celebrated her birthday on November 27th. We encourage everyone to wear teal in remembrance of her extraordinary life and to raise awareness for ovarian cancer.

November is here, and that means it's National Family Engagement Month!! We cannot thank our amazing parents and families enough for their continued involvement and support.
