Due to the potential for severe weather tomorrow and out of an abundance caution, Dooly County School System will have an inclement weather day on Wednesday, August 30, 2023. Students, faculty, and staff will not report to the schools. All after-school activities are canceled for tomorrow. Please follow the guidance issued in weather reports and stay safe. Thank you.
During last week’s District Leadership Team meeting, the following DCSS leaders were recognized for their participation, contributing thoughts, and leadership during the month of August. Game balls of the month were given to Mr. Rodney Daniels (Dooly County K8 Assistant Principal) and Ms. Latorri West (DCSS Instructional Specialist). The “committed to growth” plant was presented to Mrs. Carla Mahone (Pre-K Director/Intervention Teacher). Attention Dooly County K-8 Academy Parents!
The 21st CCLC 2023-2024 Afterschool Program Registration forms were sent home on August 16, 2023. The program will operate Mondays-Thursdays from 3:15 PM to 6:25 PM beginning September 5, 2023. All Dooly County School students in grades K-12 are eligible for the program. Students will receive homework help, tutoring, enrichment, recreation, and STEAM activities. A daily snack and bus transportation is provided at no cost. Slots will fill fast on a first-received, first-served basis. If you have already completed a registration form, you do not need to fill out another. We would love to have your child(ren) in the program.

Chicken Parm with Penne Pasta, Marinara, & a Garlic Knot or Pepperoni & Cheese Pizza.

FYI: The Dooly County Health Department has extended their hours on Tuesday, July 25th & Thursday, July 27th till 7 p.m. for "Back to School" vaccinations.
Dooly County Schools kicked off the 2024 school year with a new hire/teacher orientation at the Dooly K-8 Academy on Thursday, July 20th. We thank GAE and PAGE for providing breakfast and lunch. We also thank our community partners (Middle GA EMC, Dooly Co. Extension Office, Cadence Bank, Dooly County Chamber, Dooly County Family Connection, Gateway Center, Ellis Pecans, City of Unadilla, and the City of Vienna) for the great "swag bags" for our new teachers. We are excited and ready for the new school year.

Dooly County Pre-K Registration Is Now Open for 2023-2024!
After returning from the GAEL Summer Conference, the Dooly County District Leadership Team hit the ground running by participating in our inaugural “Start Up” Workshop, establishing “The Dooly Way to Excellence and Equity.” For two days, July 13th and 14th, district and school-based leaders gathered to 1) continue the journey to accreditation by completing the Cognia self-assessment, and 2) to re-establish and update each other on internal processes and practices as we prepare to start another school year. Leaders utilized data to update the balanced scorecard from the strategic plan, demonstrated and understanding of Cognia standards by illustration, and engaged in a hands-on activity to mirror their unwavering commitment to growth.
