DCHS Robotics Takes on First Tech Challenge! 🤖 Our talented team competed at First Presbyterian Day School in Macon, GA, where they showcased their independently built and programmed robot designed to collect and sort tiles. Team members Christopher Daniels, Joshua O'Hara-Plummer, Kimora Odom, Antrevious Ross, Kieandria Spivey, and Camille Taylor finished 20th overall and are already excited for their next competition! 🏆 Proud moment at tonight's Board of Education meeting as we celebrated the Dooly County Middle School Basketball team for their outstanding achievement - bringing home the 2024 SGAC Basketball Championship! These young athletes displayed incredible dedication, teamwork, and skill throughout the season. Congratulations to the players, coaches, and everyone who supported their journey to victory!

The Christ Chapel food pantry will be open twice this month. They are also seeking donations to support local families in need. 🌟 Congratulations to Mrs. Yolanda Duncan, our latest Coin of Distinction recipient! Mrs. Duncan, our exceptional school counselor, was nominated by Dr. Hollie Walters for her impact on our student and staff wellbeing. She's pioneered several initiatives including grief support groups and REACH scholarship coordination, while managing our PBIS program with innovative additions like chapter books to encourage reading. Beyond our halls, she serves as the Rural Counselor Liaison for the Georgia Association of School Counselors, recently sharing her expertise in "The Beacon" publication. Her commitment to mental health support, SEL implementation, and leadership makes her an invaluable member of our school community.

INTENT TO OPT OUT OF HOMESTEAD EXEMPTION The Dooly County Board of Education intends to opt out of the statewide adjusted base year ad valorem homestead exemption for the Dooly County School District. All concerned citizens are invited to the public hearing on this matter to be held at the Dooly County Board of Education Central Office Board Room on January 23, 2025, at 6:00 PM. Times and places of additional public hearings on this matter will be held at the Dooly County Board of Education Central Office Board Room on February 6, 2025, at 1:00 PM and February 20, 2025, at 5:00 PM.
