MEDIA ADVISORY
Ed-Flex Program
Dooly County-New for the 2022-2023 school year, the state of Georgia is allowing school districts to submit waivers under the Ed-Flex Program. Through Ed-Flex, The U.S. Department of Education (Secretary) delegates to eligible State Education Agencies (SEAs) the authority to waive certain statutory or regulatory education requirements that may impede local efforts to reform and improve education. Ed-Flex is designed to help Local Education Agencies (LEAs), or school districts, carry out educational reforms and raise the achievement of all students.
Ed-Flex is authorized under the Education Flexibility Partnership Act of 1999 and was reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015. The Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) met the eligibility criteria as an SEA and is offering its school districts to apply for waivers over a five year period. LEAs must apply to GaDOE annually for the desired waivers. Participating school districts will have to report annually on the effect of any state approved waivers.
For the 2022-2023 school year, we are pursuing the below waivers from the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE).
Waiver of Title I, Part A Limitation on Carryover – ESSA Section 1127(a) (unspent Title I, Part A FY2022 funds carried over to FY 2023
If approved, this waiver would allow all unspent Title I, Part A funds from school year 2021-2022 to return to the school district next year. In the past, the amount returned could not exceed 15% of the previous year’s allocation.
After reviewing these waiver requests, please submit any feedback or questions you have to terrie.lockhart@dooly.k12.ga.us.

Good Evening DCHS Parents,
This communication is to share with you information regarding today’s lunch menu. As a result of a mechanical malfunction, the air for the cafeteria kitchen area stopped working. The cooking area became too unbearable to safely require the staff to prepare a hot lunch, therefore students were served the bag lunches.
I assure you that the proper persons have been notified and every attempt to rectify the issue is being taken, and hot lunch will be served the rest of the week. On behalf of THE Dooly County High School, I apologize for any inconvenience.
Respectfully,
Rodney McBride
