Graduation rates for the state of Georgia have just been released and Dooly County High School’s graduation rate has increased to 91% for the 2022-23 school year! The four-year cohort graduation rate for Dooly County High School is even higher at 93.4%! Dooly County High School’s graduation rate has exceeded the state of Georgia graduation rate (84.4%) again for the fourth consecutive year.
The school system reflects an 89.4% graduation rate when Prep Academy, the district’s alternative education program, is included. PREP received a rating of “Too Few Students,” which means that the PREP graduation rate was not calculated as a standalone report. This year’s graduation rate is an all-time high for the high school and the school system since the U.S. Department of Education required all states to begin publicly reporting comparable high school graduation rates using the four-year adjusted cohort calculation method. This is a substantial increase from 2022 when the graduation rate was 86.1%.
DCHS Principal, Dr. Rodney McBride states, “It is with profound gratitude that I acknowledge the hard work of The DCHS faculty, staff and scholars as evidenced by this significant increase in the school’s graduation rate! I am humbled and privileged to serve such a dedicated group of stakeholders. While we pause to celebrate this accomplishment, we recognize there is still work to be done and have every confidence of a continued positive trajectory!
