PRESS RELEASE| IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Dear Bobcat Nation,

The Dooly County Board of Education received the Leading Edge and Exemplary Level Awards at the GSBA/GSSA Annual Conference on December 2, 2022. The Leading Edge Award celebrates innovative practices, and Dooly County earned this recognition through the implementation of our migrant summer camp program. Our school system has a 22% Hispanic population, and the Federal Programs Department led the charge to meet the needs of this underserved population. The program has been commended by the Georgia Department of Education along with our recognition from the Georgia School Boards Association. This is the second Leading Edge Award that Dooly County School System has received.

For the third straight year, the Dooly County Board of Education has earned the Exemplary Board recognition by the Georgia School Boards Association. This level of honor is the highest commendation that any local governance team can receive, and it is a testament to the best practices that our school board has implemented. Only 1/3 of all school systems in Georgia earned Exemplary status as of 2021, and DCSS is in an even smaller elite group that has earned Exemplary status for three consecutive years, thus placing us as one of the best run school boards in the state of Georgia. Pictured here (l-r): Vice-Chair Katrice Martin (District 5), Board Members-Elect Sherri Taylor (District 1), Minnie Harper (District 3), Miranda Barron (District 5), and Superintendent Dr. Craig Lockhart. The board looks forward to continuing the Dooly Dynasty. #thisisdooly #dooly4life
