On June 7-9th, 2021, the Office of Federal Programs hosted the first annual Summer Migrant Camp. Migrant students ages 5-17 engaged in a host of arts and crafts and STEM-based activities. Students also participated in the Imagine Learning program to increase literacy achievement. “The purpose of the Migrant Summer Camp was to engage and connect students and families,” said Federal Programs Director Dr. Terrie Lockhart. “The camp gave the students a safe space to learn and grow. Student surveys and personal feedback indicate that the camp was a huge success. The students are already looking forward to this event next year.” Special thanks go to Migrant Services Provider, Mr. Daniel Cornejo, Mrs. Isela Ramos, student aides, and support staff for helping to make this program a success.
