McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act

The McKinney-Vento Homeless Education Assistance Act is the federal law that governs the educational rights of children and youth in homeless situations. This act was reauthorized under the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) in 2015. Families and unaccompanied youth (students who do not live with a legal a parent/guardian) who live in any of the situations below might be eligible for certain educational rights and services, including out of district transportation.
