Professional School Counselors at Dooly County High School work with all students, parents, and faculty to assist in the development of all student's academic, personal, and career goals in addition to helping students overcome any barriers to success.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I arrange a conference with my child's teachers? Parents may call the front office and ask to be directed to ext 3250 to schedule Parent/Teacher conferences. Please give your child's name and nature of your call. Calls are returned as soon as possible. 

How can my child arrange to see the counselor? Students may schedule a meeting with the Counselor during open office hours. Students are encouraged to stop-by during their scheduled lunch/break and before/after school. If the counselor is unavailable, students will have the opportunity to schedule an appointment. Emergencies are handled on an immediate need basis.

What is the different between HOPE GPA and Cumulative High School GPA? Hope GPA consists of academic classes, dual enrollment, Spanish, and AP courses. Cumulative High School GPA consists of ALL attempts made on all high school courses including dual enrollment and AP.

How can I get a fee wavier for the SAT/ACT? Students who qualify for a free/reduced price lunch are eligible for a fee wavier. Please see the counselor to to request and pick-up your waiver. Student's can be provided two of each.

Where should I look for Scholarships? Click here to search for scholarships via Going Merry. Students should also check with the Financial Aid office of the any colleges in which they are considering. Students should also search Fastweb and College Board. Local scholarships will be announced as they are received.

Can my child participate in Dual Enrollment? Dual Enrollment application packets can be picked up in the counseling office. Applications are reviewed by the counselor to determine if the student is eligible for the Dual Enrollment program.
